Hey 👋 Ampli community.
The city feels so alive during marathon weekend, and on top of that, such a sunny day to be outside. It feels like we’re all trying to squeeze as much sun as possible out of these days already, haha.
If you were out there running, congratulations. We were on the cheering side. So proud of all the participants, and especially the ones in this community, you know who you are ;)
🎤 Want to speak or host an AMPLI meetup?
We’re planning the next events and looking for builders, operators, founders, and community members who want to give a talk, run a session, or host us at their space.

OpenAI’s internal model solved 100+ long-standing math problems in 24 days, including a Millennium Prize Problem — Training started August 28. By September 9, the system had resolved the Navier-Stokes existence and smoothness problem (open since 1845) using up to 10,000 coordinating AI agents in 88 hours. By September 21, it had solved 100+ additional long-standing problems across most branches of mathematics. OpenAI has since formed a nine-member Math and AI advisory group at Princeton’s Institute for Advanced Study. However, no proofs, resolution criteria, or problem list have been released for outside review. The claim is extraordinary, and so is the verification gap.

Germany and the Netherlands just launched a joint €40M challenge to fast-track European sovereign AI — Germany’s SPRIND (Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation) and its Dutch counterpart NADI announced a €40M joint challenge to accelerate European AI development outside US infrastructure dependencies. The mechanism: prize-based innovation challenges rather than traditional grants, designed for speed. For European founders and researchers building AI infrastructure: this is institutional money moving toward the sovereignty angle, not just regulation.

73% of designers feel more pressure in 2026 — but only 28% of companies have a plan for it — AI is reshaping how design, engineering, and product teams work together, and not always for the better: 65% of designers now do product or engineering work themselves, while 56% of non-designers do design. The collaboration breakdown we should be studying.

Berlin’s mika raised €6M to replace the traditional tax firm for Germany’s small GmbHs — and is growing 20% a month 🇩🇪 — mika (Smedvig Ventures-led) builds an AI-native accounting and tax platform for Germany’s smallest limited companies — the GmbHs and UGs that are legally required to have a Steuerberater but often can’t afford one. Passed €1M ARR in July 2026, growing over 20% month-on-month. The product handles real-time bookkeeping and tax returns and offers something a human firm can’t: instant access, not a two-week turnaround. In the same week Limetax raised to buy German tax firms, mika is going around them entirely.

A $4B startup is building AI that designs its own chips — Ricursive Intelligence, co-founded by Anna Goldie and Azalia Mirhoseini (who pioneered chip floorplanning with AlphaChip at Google DeepMind), is taking that work further: AI that automates chip design from component placement through design verification, learns across every design it makes, and iterates its own performance. The compounding flywheel argument: faster chip design produces more powerful chips, which accelerates future chip design.

Insurers are claiming AI is already making healthcare more expensive — and a leading AI health startup founder agrees it could go very wrong — US insurers report that AI is generating more referrals, more tests, and more treatments per patient, driving up claim costs. Dr. Shiv Rao (founder of Abridge, the leading AI clinical documentation startup) acknowledged AI could produce “a horrible dystopic future nobody wants to live in — bots fighting bots, agents fighting agents.” The dynamic worth watching: AI was supposed to reduce healthcare costs through efficiency. The early signal is that it may first increase them by removing friction from expensive care pathways.
