Cohere and Aleph Alpha plan a joint headquarters in Berlin — The companies have signed a combination agreement and plan to operate under the Cohere name, with headquarters in Berlin and Toronto. Aleph Alpha’s Heidelberg office would remain a research center. The deal still needs regulatory approval. For Berlin, the story to follow is how much leadership, research, and product work takes shape here once the agreement closes.
🇩🇪 Berlin · 🧑💻 AI
Nomos raises €20M to connect homes to the energy market — The Berlin team is building software and operating as a licensed German electricity supplier. Its partners can offer energy products under their own brands, while Nomos handles the supply and operations behind them. Electricity supply and solar export are live; trading flexibility from home batteries and EVs comes next. It’s a product story about making a complicated energy system useful to households.
🇩🇪 Berlin · ⚡ Climate tech
Integral raises €18M to rethink accounting, tax, and payroll — Founded in Berlin, Integral combines AI agents that prepare routine work with licensed professionals who review and sign off on filings. It delivers the service to businesses instead of selling another tool to accounting firms. For founders dealing with late books or payroll paperwork, the interesting test is whether that combination makes the work faster while keeping a person accountable.
🇩🇪 Berlin · 🚀 Founders
Charité launches an AI platform built by a Berlin spin-off — Clé runs on Charité’s own servers and helps staff work with documents across research, teaching, administration, and clinical administration. It was developed by Ascléa, a Charité spin-off. Charité says the platform is not intended to make diagnoses or treatment decisions. This is a concrete look at how an institution can use AI for routine work while keeping clinical responsibility with people.
🇩🇪 Berlin · 🏥 Health tech
OpenAI is testing ads that turn into conversations — In a US test with select advertisers, people can click an ad and choose to speak with a clearly labeled, business-sponsored agent. OpenAI says that exchange stays separate from ChatGPT’s independent answers. For product and marketing teams, the question is whether a useful conversation can help someone make a decision—and how clearly the product maintains the boundary between assistance and advertising.
